Sidwell assembled a solid seven inning effort against Potomac, earning a 14-10 win. Whereas the Quaker defense has been porous recently, it was strong today, making fine and routine plays alike. Sidwell also benefited from a terrific outing from Peter Bell, who pitched at length for the first time this season. After settling down, Bell had good command of both his fastball and his curve ball and dealt effectively to all parts of Potomac's lineup.
Sidwell's offense was strong, even if not prolific. It was lead by Chase Plebani who snapped out of a slump and went 3-5 with two doubles, a triple, and 5 RBI. His triple, hit over the left fielder, was, ironically, his weakest hit as his two doubles were of the ground rule variety, drilled deep into the left center and right center gaps.
The Quakers took at 14-6 run into the bottom of the seventh inning. Reliever Chris Stevens got two quick outs but then ran into a bit of trouble. His was relieved by Derek Levinson who was able to shut the game down in four pitches to record a save, Sidwell's first of the spring.
