In a sideways game with its fair share of suspense, the Quakers dropped a close one, 8-9 (once again) to the visiting Panthers from Potomac. Starter Lee Gillies would work through some untimely mistakes from the Sidwell defense to take a tie game into the later innings, but in the end, Potomac would take advantage of the extra outs and steal the win and seal the series up 2-0 with a third game to be played next week.
For the second game in the row, the Quaker bats would do a great job to limit strikeouts and put the ball in play, but the eight runs on eight hits just wasn’t enough to get the job done. After an all-out diving catch at the warning track with the bases loaded and two outs by center fielder Aidan Breslin, needing two runs to extend the game, the home team would quickly put two runners on base, but only manage to plate one, falling short by the slimmest of margins.
Multiple RBIs by the home team came in the middle of the order by Aidan Breslin, Tanner Breslin, and Robby Schooling, scoring three times on the day in the DH role. Sidwell finishes the season with a trio of games next week, starting with a shot at payback on Tuesday.
