Starter Ethan Yu and reliever Ethan Walker combined for an excellent Quaker effort on the mound. The Quakers didn't walk a single batter, while striking out five.
Sidwell's defense was clean with the exception of a single error made when center fielder Zach Gayer made a great catch on the run and overthrew first on an aggressive attempt to double-up a runner who didn't anticipate the catch. Gayer also lead the Quakers on the base paths, recording four stolen bases. The Quaker offense wasn't prolific, but it was timely -- and it was enough given the great pitching and defensive performance, highlighted by freshman Eric Sun's excellent play at shortstop. Sun also had a great two-out RBI single on a 1-2 count in the 6th inning, to plate a crucial Sidwell insurance run.
The win was a good one, especially after the slow start to the season against Flint Hill a week prior.
