Sidwell rallied to overcome a 2-5 fifth innning deficit to win 8-5.

The Quakers started the game timidly against a strong Flint Hill team and committed four errors early (three in the second which led to two unearned runs and one in the third which led to an additional unearned run). Thereafter, Sidwell played excellent defense, notably including a nice 7-6-4 putout in the fifth (Michael Davies quickly ran down a ball hit past him in left field and started the play that nailed the Flint Hill runner trying to stretch his hit into a double) and a phenomenal diving catch by Nick Roman on an intended sacrifice bunt in the sixth with runners on first and second. Roman came up throwing to double the Flint Hill runner off second base.

In the first inning the Quaker hitters appeared to be in for real trouble against an effective Flint Hill pitcher, but Sidwell's offense was energized in the second by Peter Bell's two-out line drive single down the left field line to drive in the first two runs of the day.

Another key two-RBI hit came from David Steinbach with two outs in the top of the fifth. His hit scored the tying and go-ahead runs at the tail end of a four-run fifth inning for the Quakers.

Fittingly, Steinbach's two RBI hit made him eligible for the win with Nick Roman replacing him on the mound in the bottom half of the inning. In relief Roman was aided by two fine plays in the fifth (the 7-6-4 put out at second and a nice catch on a long fly ball by Brett Perrin in center) and his own diving play in the sixth. Roman was terrific in the seventh, holding Flint Hill scoreless for a third straight inning and earning the save.
