Defense was the difference in the rematch between Sidwell Friends and Flint Hill. The Quakers committed eight errors to an effect of eight unearned runs -- and that tally does not include balls that the Quakers played passively and were scored as hits but could or should have been outs.

On the positive side, Sidwell generated a good amount of offense, including a big fifth inning on the heels of collapsing defense in the bottom of the fourth. Unfortunately, the inning was cut short on a play at third -- in the middle of a big rally -- in which runner Chris Ward's progress was impeded at third, causing him to stumble and be called out on a close tag play. So, what could have been ruled obstruction was instead ruled an out, and the big rally was cut short. But, it was important that the team showed its best stuff on the heels of some deflating play.

The team looks to redeem this game and an earlier loss to Maret in a Friday home match-up against the Frogs tomorrow after school.
