Sidwell kicked off the weekend welcoming Potomac for a mid-afternoon ballgame that would see two well-matched teams trade punches through seven great innings. Similar to last week’s game against Flint Hill, the visiting Panthers started off the scoring in the top of the first, but the Quakers stood strong off the arm of southpaw starter Andrew Ludwin and tied things up in the bottom half of the third after a double off the bat of Briley Ward scored Billy Walsh, running for starting catcher Mikey Levy after a leadoff single. Ludwin would continue on to spin 5 solid frames with maximum efficiency, striking out nine, while only allowing two runs, both earned. In the end, a stalwart Panthers defense helped to strand a dozen Sidwell baserunners en route to a 2-5 loss for the home team.

The Quaker bats scattered eight hits led by Levy, Ward, and Jackson Fauvre, each with multi-hit games, and the speedster Colin Leonard continued blazing the base paths with three more stolen bases. Sidwell looks to bounce back and ride this positive performance into the Saturday rematch.
