The Quakers started off with a rough inning: starter Mihir Patel did a great job rolling ground balls, but errors allowed multiple runners, who should have been put out, to reach base, and George Mason started off with a two-run lead. In the first half of the game, offense was weak, with Sidwell failing to make good contact. One exception to this rule was Lance Duncan, who hit early and often, recording a three-hit game, which included two triples. Duncan sparked the offense, which picked up in the second half of the game. By the end of the game, seven players had recorded hits and as many had recorded runs batted in.
Starter Mihir pitched two excellent innings but ran into trouble in the third. Reliever Alexi Weinberg did well through the end of the fourth. Then Aaron Wheeler took over and pitched three good innings to earn the win. Though the game wasn't clean, the Quakers did enough, especially in the second half of the game, to earn a hard-fought victory.
