The Quakers had a shaky start on Monday, surrendering a walk and two straight errors to give Gonzaga a 1-0 lead and runners on 1st and 3rd to start the game. On the following play, Tanner Drant tracked down a fly ball in right and made a great throw home to cut down the tagging runner, and Sidwell’s defense settled in considerably after that, with no errors over the remainder of the game. Sidwell’s scoring came in the 1st and the 5th, when Owen Liu-Bailey twice fought back from 1-2 counts to put the ball in play and score Jake Levine, once with a ground ball to second and later with a sac fly to right. With the score tied at 2 in the seventh, Gonzaga scored on a triple and loaded the bases with no outs, but some tight defense by the Quakers prevented a big inning. In the end, The Quakers played a solid defensive game behind good pitching from Ezekiel Seldin and Tanner Drant, but could not convert on enough offensive opportunities to pick up the win.
