Mormino will attempt to humor you in the bottom halves...Stevens steps into the box to lead off on a wonderful morning down here in Mickey Mouse land....Stevens works the count and eventually walks to start off the game...Luke Friedman's turn now...Stevens swipes second as the shortstop can't seem to catch the ball which ends up in the dirt...Friedman goes down looking...Plebani has a chance now to drive in the game's first run...Plebani drives one to left, but the ball hangs just enough for the fielder to camp out, start a fire, cook some smores and catch the ball for the second out...Steinbach pops out to shallow right to end the inning....bottom...Peter Bell on the hill for the Quakers...Bell works ahead 0-2...hangs one...line drive to center brought down by Chris Stevens for the first out of the inning. Routine play for Steinbach at short...batter is out 6-3 for out number two...infield single dribbled down the left side puts a runner on with two outs...line out to Romansky in left ends the inning. No score.
2nd...top...It is truly a beautiful day down here in sunny Florida. I feel sorry for all of our Eskimo fans, following our game from their freezing igloos...McLaughlin starts the frame off with a walk...Tray Brown steps up, sporting Shaq's old number...An overthrow on a pickoff attempt moves McLaughlin up to second base....Brown goes down swinging...Peter Bell looks to drive in that run at second base...Bell grounds the ball to short and is thrown out, but he moves the runner up to third base...Levy makes nice contact -- but lines a ball to the shortstop for the third and final out of the inning...bottom...Bell works ahead 1-2 to start the inning but hits the batter on 2-2...comebacker: Bell elects to get the runner at second; batter safe on fielder's choice...one out...line drive single to right advances the baserunner to third; runners on the corners...chopper to third; throw home from Levinson is...not in time; Bonner strikes first, pulling ahead 1-0. Runners on first and second with one out. Bell ahead 1-2...runner hanging in there with three two-strike foul balls...and a fourth...and a fifth...and a sixth...11th pitch of the at-bat coming up; count is 2-2...another foul ball; this situation is getting ridiculous...strike out!!! Persistence pays off for Bell; runners move up on a stolen base. Second and third with two outs...Bell, Plebani, and Brown converge on a pop-up to foul territory; Bell makes the catch and retires the side.
3rd...top...Levinson grounds out to the third baseman to start off...Stevens is now up for the second time today; he goes down looking. Friedman's turn now...If any of you are looking to get a cheap quality haircut, talk to Matt Romanasky: he specializes in mohawks...Friedman walks to bring up Plebani with two away here in the third...balls are abundant in this inning as that was the 8th in a row: Plebani draws a walk...Steinbach has a chance to tie the game up now as he steps into the box...Bases are now loaded after the third walk in a row....Senior captain Matt McLaughin has a huge chance here; he walks a run in to tie it up. Four walks in a row now, and we wait as the pitcher is being changed....Brown will be up when the game resumes....Brown goes down on an iffy strike three call...bottom...bunt attempt to leadoff the inning...fielded cleanly by Bell and thrown to Plebani at first for an out. Bell walks the next guy; runner moves up on a passed ball; runner on second with one out. Romansky tracks a line drive in left for the second out of the inning. Base hit up the middle drives in a run. Bonner puts on a hit-and-run with two outs...foul ball...6-3 put out ends the inning.
4th...top...Bell starts the frame off with a fly out to left field...Levy grounds one to the third baseman who makes a really nice play to retire him; two outs...Levinson ropes one to left but directly at the left fielder for the third out...bottom...Chris Stevens in to relieve starter Peter Bell...pop up to foul territory...Plebani ranges over, finds the fence, and makes a beautiful basket catch...combacker: Stevens makes a great pick and throws easily to first for the second out of the inning...good glove work for the Quakers this inning. Stevens works ahead...on 2-2, batter fouls two off, and then looks at one: strike three. Got heeemm!
5th...top...Chris Stevens up to bat....Stevens pops out to the third baseman; one away...Friedman up now for Sidwell....He goes down swinging for the second out....Plebani looks to get something started as he steps up to the plate...Plebani flies out to right to end the top of the 5th...the game appears to be turning into real pitchers' duel...bottom...leadoff walk issued by Stevens...stolen base...blooper to left center brought down by centerfielder Luke Friedman after a nice run...runner moving...he has the base swiped easily -- but must return after a HBP. Runners on first and second with one out...delayed double steal; Quakers get an out at second...runner on third with two outs and Stevens ahead in the count...fly ball to Romansky, who makes a great run and brings down the third out in foul territory.
6th...top...Steinbach takes a hit by pitch like the super-human he is, brushes his shoulders off, and trots down to first...He then steals second for fun; I don't think anyone can stop this man...McLaughlin up now with a chance to tie it up....On a 1-1 count...he bunts one down the third base line!!!...out of reach of the pitcher...safe at first; Steinbach to third...Brown is up now looking to do some serious damage...Brown screams one down the line...two inches foul...two pitches later, he again lines one...but this time, right at the third baseman for the first out...Bell's chance now to tie it up...Steinbach shows off his blazing speed as he hustles down the line, taking home on a wild pitch to tie it up!! In the meantime McLaughlin is thrown out trying to be greedy and take two bases on the wild pitch....Bell walks; runner on first with two outs and Levy is now up...Bell says "Gimme Dat!!' as he steals second base...Levy walks...Levinson struts into the box now...After some serious Bush League stuff on a fake throw away at second base, Levinson shows them who's boss with a liner to left, driving in a run and forcing a pitching change...Stevens is the first one up against the new pitcher...Levinson takes off early to force a throw to second, Levy flashes home and both are safe!!! Quakers up 4-2...Stevens strikes out looking to end it...bottom...Lipscomb into relieve Stevens...first guy draws a full count walk...another walk puts runners on first and second with no outs...sacrifice bunt moves runners up; second and third with one out...pop up to foul territory; Lipscomb ranges over off the mound and makes the catch for the second out...Bell makes a catch on a pop-up to the right side!!!! Lipscomb works out the jam unscathed!
7th...top...Friedman leads off the frame for the Quakers as they look to push the lead in the final inninng...Friedman is a flat out animal as he reaches base again with a walk....Pitcher can't seem to find the zone as he walks Plebani as well...Steinbach is up to bat....Another walk and the bases are loaded with nobody out...McLaughlin is up now...with the infield in, he hits a line drive single to right to plate one run; Plebani is thrown out at home trying for a second run...Brown looks to turn things around up there at the plate...McLaughlin steals second; runners on second and third with one out...Wild pitch plates David as he scores again, this guy is a one man wrecking ball out there...Brown singles to left to score McLaughlin, giving Sidwell a five run lead...Brown is picked off at first...Bell walks...Levy steps up now...Levy walks...Levinson steps up and looks to use that long swing of his to his advantage yet again...He grounds out to short to end the frame...I will now be retiring from writing these summaries. I hope I have touched the hearts of many as you have been reading my kind words these past few days...bottom...Lipscomb still on the mound for the Quakers...flyout to Stevens in center on a 2-2 count; one away. Flaring line drive glances off the glove of a diving Luke Friedman in left field. One out, runner on second...next ball also hit to Friedman; this one is a can of corn; easy catch...two away...clean up hitter up for Bonner; Lipscomb throws a ball, then a strike...1-1...a swinging strike brings the count to 1-2....STRUCK HIM OUT!!!!! Sidwell wins 7-2!!!!
