The Quakers got their second win in as many days, hosting the Grasshoppers from GDS after defeating St. John’s the day before. Starting strong on the mound for the Quakers was freshman Owen Liu-Bailey, making only his second appearance on the JV season, working around a few walks to finish four innings and giving up but a harmless single in the second. While the defense would managed the game largely untested due to the effectiveness of Liu-Bailey and reliever Ari Gedan, the story on the day, once again, was the Quaker bats, coming through with another barrage of double-digit hits, their third game of 12+ hits in the last four tries.

Leading the way for the offense was outfielder Jake Levine, finishing a perfect 4-for-4 with even, level swings, adding a hard-hit double in the second inning for good measure. Also contributing mightily at the plate was first baseman Teddy Friedman, batting behind Levine and bringing home four RBI on the day, as well as speedy utility player Jack Ewers, batting second leadoff and bunting aboard safely and adding another single to finish with two hits, two RBI, and two runs scored.

While the Quakers did an excellent job with squaring up fastballs and beating out infield singles, shortstop Cody Encarnacion chose the leisurely route and trotted around the bases with a towering two-run blast to the deep part of the field in a seven-run second inning to crack things open and send the Quakers on their way to victory.

After a well-deserved day-off, Sidwell will take to a few good practices and regroup to conclude the game schedule next week against MAC opponents Potomac and Flint Hill.
