In a memorable performance, Ben Steel threw 89 pitches en route to a no hitter with 13 strikeouts. Steel's impressive performance included first-pitch strikes to 18 of 22 batters. Despite the spectacular effort on Sidwell's side, the game was very close throughout as George Mason threw a great game of its own by committee, striking out seven -- meaning that the game included 20 strikeouts and only four walks for both teams combined. Steel worked out of a jam in the fifth, striking out consecutive batters after George Mason moved runners to second and third with only one out.

The Quaker offense was minimal but timely. In the fifth Hugo Carney drew a walk and stole two bases. With Carney on third with two outs, Brice Dickerson ripped a line drive over shortstop to put the Quakers on top. Sidwell added an insurance run in the sixth after Steel helped his own cause with a lead-off double hit deep into the right center gap.

The game was particularly impressive given that it took place on the team's first day back from Spring Break.
