Sidwell jumped out to a commanding lead over Msgr. Bonner High School, scoring four runs in the top of the second off one walk and five hits, with one RBI each from Johnny Allman, Finn Stern, Matt McLaughlin, and Nick Roman in the 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th spots respectively.
After that all was quiet for much of the game with Sidwell starter Nick Roman handling the Bonner hitters with a fine mix of speeds. Roman allowed only a single run over the four and a third innings he pitched. At the same time, however, the Quakers weren't able to add to their lead, and this ended up costing them.
In the fifth and sixth innings, Bonner was able to put together two rallies, grabbing the lead by a count of 7-4. Sidwell was able to get a runner on here and there but wasn't able to string together enough hits to score again. Again, it seemed like Sidwell had the elements to make for a good game but wasn't able to put everything together for a win.
