Sidwell earned its first win of the season against Gonzaga at the newly completed Nationals Baseball Academy. Sidwell jumped out to a big lead by recording a seven-run first inning, which included a smattering of hits (two by Victor Doddy alone) and a number of walks. The Quakers held this large lead with a combination of good pitching and several outstanding defensive plays. Down 1-11 in the bottom of the sixth, Gonzaga fought back and tacked on six runs in the final two innings before Sidwell was able to close it out by a final score of 11-7.

Great defensive playing included the following: with runners on second and third with two outs, pitcher Tyrone Patterson fielded a swinging bunt near the third base line, spun, and threw hard to first, where Doddy made a great backhand pick to end the second inning; later, after the Eagles made some noise to start the sixth inning, with the bases loaded and no outs, center fielder Ethan Kohn made a great run and full extension dive to snag a line drive in left center.
