The Quakers had trouble getting the bats going at Jackson-Reed. In the third with runners on first and third with two outs, shortstop Eric Sun caught a barrel, but the Tiger shortstop was able to knock it down, gather it, and go the short way for the third out. In the fifth, with one out and a runner on second, Tommy Levy hit a line drive up the middle, but it was snagged by the second baseman who touched second for an inning-ending double play. In the sixth center fielder Will Pryce and third baseman Porter Speece just missed balls that went for long fly outs. But, close doesn't count, and Sidwell was held scoreless.
Defensive highlights were made on the left side of the infield, with Eric Sun turning two big 6-3 double plays on ground balls hit to his left with the bases loaded. Speece made a great play on a (very) slow roller to record the first out of the sixth inning.
