The afternoon's weather served as a good analogy for the game. As the game started, the rain started and it got messy and miserable for a while. After a few innings, the rain died down and the weather became pleasant -- though not terrific. In a similar way, the Quakers came out of the gates sloppy, allowing seven runs (four earned) in the first two innings to dig themselves into a pretty deep hole. Though things improved and Sidwell climbed back, the effort proved too little too late, and they lost to Wilson 9-11.

Positive highlights included Derek Levinson's effort both as pitcher in relief and also at the plate. In the fourth he laid down a bunt that was virtually un-defendable, and he thus earned a hit and loaded the bases in a crucial situation. Also on offense, Chris Stevens hit two triples for three RBI, and Aaron Lewin had a key two out, two strike, two RBI triple in the sixth. In an almost highlight, Luke Friedman hit a line drive up the middle in the last inning only to have it snagged on a nice play by the Wilson shortstop who stepped on second for an easy double play to end the game.
