Sidwell and Maret played a fast-paced game, mostly because of the number of strikeouts both ways. Each team struck out nine times, and thus strikeouts accounted for almost half the outs in the game.

Heading into their final turn at bat, Sidwell found themselves trailing by one. Derek Levinson lead off with a walk, and then Peter Bell sacrificed him over to second with a bunt down the first base line, bringing Chase Plebani -- who had already homered and doubled in the game -- to the plate. Plebani walked and so did the next batter, Matt Levy, to load the bases.

Colin Losey was next up. Losey hit a ground ball to get an RBI, and the next batter, Luke Friedman did the same. Thus, Sidwell was able to score the tying and go-ahead runs in the top of the frame.

In the bottom of the inning, Chase Plebani relieved starter Peter Bell who pitched a terrific six innings, holding Maret to only three runs off only two hits. Plebani walked the first batter after a nine pitch at-bat. The first pitch of the next at bat grazed the batter's shirt for a hit-by-pitch, and so Maret had first and second with no outs. On a passed ball, Maret tried to advance. While their lead runner safely reached third, a quick throw nailed the Maret runner sliding into second. Plebani proceeded to strike out the next batter, leaving a runner on third with two outs. Plebani worked ahead of the next batter, got to 2-2, and rolled a ground ball. Unfortunately, the batter reached base on an error, and Maret tied the game. After Plebani walked the next batter on 3-2, catcher Will Mendez threw out a runner attempting to steal third to end the inning. Unfortunately, the two hour time limit had been reached, and the game could not go into extra innings despite the tie score.
