In the first round of the MAC tournament, Sidwell might have been able to win on either its team offense or the performance of pitcher Wes Roman alone. However, the Quakers didn't have to choose; they had both.
Roman pitched the whole way through the 10-run rule shortened game. He threw first pitch strikes to 17 of the 21 GDS batters and took advantage of being ahead in the count. He struck out four while only walking one. GDS got four hits, but only a single runner reached third base and none ever scored.
On offense Sidwell was prolific, recording 12 hits in only four innings, scoring in each. Four different players drove in runs; seven different players recorded hits; seven different players scored; and Sidwell got over half of their hits and scored six of their ten runs with two outs.
The game ended after four and a half innings at a score of 10-0, with Sidwell advancing to a semi-final game against Flint Hill on Monday.
