Sidwell played the first of two regular season games against GDS and won in convincing fashion, 11-1.
Junior Mark Ossolinski pitched the entire game for the Quakers, and he was tough. Although he walked five, he only allowed a single hit. With the exception of the first inning in which the first two batters reached base and the second inning in which GDS recorded a run, the Hoppers never mounted any serious threats, and yet again Ossolinski established himself as one of the most dominant pitchers in the conference.
On the offensive side, there was plenty with which to be happy. Every Quaker batter recorded at least one hit, junior Sam Stevens was a double short of the cycle, senior Paul Carrier hit his first homerun of the season, and the Quakers did a much better job moving runners, generating base hits with runners in scoring position and scoring twice on sacrifices.
The game ended early due to the 10-run rule, after the Quakers put together a rally in the bottom of the sixth.
