The Skinny: It was a tough game for the Quakers. The league-leading Panthers tallied 20 hits for 16 runs, a number the Quakers were unable to match.

Synopsis: The Quakers took a 3-0 lead in the first inning, and held the lead at 5-3 in the 3rd after manufacturing some runs. The Quaker offense would stagnate after the 3rd, however, and although Sidwell put runners on base multiple times, they were not able to score again.

Potomac scored multiple runs in each of the last 5 innings, making a Quaker comeback nearly impossible. The final score was 16-5.

Analysis: Quaker pitchers threw strikes all game long, only surrendering 2 walks in 7 innings, but Potomac came ready to hit. An offensive standout for the Panthers was Junior Conor McNerney, who hit for the cycle with an extra triple for a 5-5 day against the Quakers.

On offense, the Quakers showed improved patience at the plate, taking 8 walks as opposed to none in their 1-0 victory over St. Andrews earlier in the week. The Quakers only had 5 hits, however, and left numerous runners on base.

Looking Ahead: The Quakers fall to 3-3 in the MAC on the season, with 2 losses to Potomac and another to Flint Hill. While the win at Maret was key, and the Quakers are not entirely out of contention, Potomac has the inside track to win the MAC regular season. Sidwell must finish strong to give themselves an outside shot at the regular season title as well as a good seed for the conference tournament.
