In a seesaw game, Sidwell took and then gave up the lead twice and teetered on the brink of defeat before putting together a monster final inning to beat GDS 15-10.

Player-of-the game honors are tough to determine in this one. Finn Stern went 2-3 with a HR and 4 RBI. He also made two run-saving, incredible catches in center. Nick Roman mashed an inside-the-park two-run homerun in the seventh to tie the game, had an outfield assist on a 9-3 putout off a sharp line drive to right, and came in in relief to stop the bleeding in the sixth and close out the game in the seventh. Nick Fineman had a game winning RBI double with two outs in the seventh to take the lead and bust open the top of the seventh for the Quakers.

Sidwell started the game off confidently, charging out to a 4-0 lead, but GDS came back, scoring one unearned run in the third and three earned runs in the fourth off of starter Sam Stevens, who otherwise pitched well. Reliever Mark Ossolinski got the heart of the GDS lineup 1-2-3 in the fifth but then struggled in the sixth, giving up six runs off six hits and a pair of walks. Nick Roman relieved him and got the last out, but the Quakers found themselves in an 8-10 hole going into their final turn at bat.

Matt McLaughlin started off the top of the seventh with a rocketed ground ball -- on which the GDS third baseman made a terrific play and threw McLaughlin out at first. When the next batter, Wes Roman, went down 0-2, things looked grim for Sidwell. But, Roman put a ball in play and legged out an infield single to bring the tying run to the plate in his brother, Nick Roman.

Like Wes, Nick went down 0-2. He fouled off two pitches and then, on the third 0-2 pitch of his at-bat, crushed a high fastball over the left-fielder's head. Wes scored from first and Nick made it all the way home -- for an inside-the-park homerun -- as the left fielder dug for the ball in the left field corner.

The game was now tied 10-10, and the next batter, David Steinbach, drew a walk. A strikeout and a stolen base later, Nick Fineman came to the plate with two outs and the go-ahead run in scoring position. On a 3-1 pitch, he blasted a double into left field to score Steinbach and take the lead.

The Quakers proceeded to score five runs off three hits in their two out rally and ended up with a comfortable 15-10 lead going into the bottom of the seventh. Nick Roman had no trouble holding GDS off, and the Quakers won an interesting and exciting game in just over three hours.
