The Skinny: A defensively dominated game for the Quakers lasted only 1 hour and 20 minutes with Mark Ossolinski tossing a shutout for a 1-0 victory.

Synopsis: The game was fast-paced from the start, with neither team managing a run in the first 3 innings. Both pitchers were highly effective and defenses stout. The Quakers were resilient, however, and in the 4th inning, Junior Sam Stevens lead off with a single. After advancing to 3rd on a wild pitch and a balk, with 1 out, Nick Fineman hit a hard grounder to the SS, causing the fielder to bobble the ball just long enough for Stevens to score.

While Fineman was out at first, the damage was done and Sidwell cruised the rest of the game behind the pitching of Mark Ossolinski, who shutout the Lions allowing only 2 hits the entire game.

Analysis: Mark Ossolinski asserted his dominance over the Lions in the first inning, striking out 2. This would become a trend for Ossolinski, who struck out 2 batters in 2 other innings along with another for a total of 7 K's over 7 innings compared with only 1 walk. This brings his K:BB ratio to 30:5 on the year with an impressive 2.63 ERA in 24 IP.

Sidwell's offense struggled, garnering only 2 hits. The Quakers were impatient against a pitcher who was not throwing particularly hard and failed to draw any walks. While Sidwell's aggressive approach has worked in the past, it was not particularly successful today. St. Andrew's pitcher pitched with poise and accuracy, and Sidwell was not able to get enough hits or take enough pitches to get into the Lions' bullpen.

Sidwell's defense and ability to throw strikes has been the constant on during their current 5 game winning streak. They have allowed no more than 2 errors in any of the games, and have made some extraordinary plays to make up for the infrequent mishaps. They also have allowed only 8 walks in 5 games, forcing other teams to earn each of their runs.

Looking Ahead: Sidwell looks to continue their hot streak at home against Potomac this Friday. The Quakers will look to avenge a heartbreaking 6-7 loss at Potomac back in March. Sidwell plays St. Andrew again at home in their final regular season showdown on May the 5th.
