The Skinny: A solid win for the Quakers against in-league rivals Maret on the road

Synopsis: Sophomore David Steinbach pitchy a gritty first couple of innings against a Maret team that started out swinging. Quaker defense was stellar backing up Steinbach, keeping the Quakers in the game. Steinbach was relieved by Junior Mark Ossolinski who dominated Maret hitters the entire rest of the game, allowing no runs and no walks with 6 K's. Ossolinski now has a 23:4 K:BB ratio on the year.

Sidwell put the ball in play in early innings, but only managed 1 run. The luck would not remain rotten for the Quakers, however, as they mounted a huge rally in the 5th inning for 6 runs to take the lead 7-6. Not satisfied, Sidwell added 5 more runs in the 6th and 7th to put the game out of reach for the Frogs, winning by a final score of 12-6.

Analysis: Sidwell witnessed an offensive explosion in this game, limiting strikeouts to only 6 and piling up 12 hits by hitting the ball hard on the ground and running the bases aggressively. 8 of the 9 Sidwell batters recorded a hit, showing a real team effort in this one, a great sign of things to come.

Looking Ahead: Sidwell plays Maret again on May 4th in their penultimate regular season match-up.
